A Few Days Away

Last week The Col and I spent a few days in Swanage, Dorset.  After Easter the place emptied and most mornings this is what the beach was like, no one else around, my kind of heaven.

I did find these two and thought ......

The Beachcombers

The local fishing industry isn't what it used to be.  This boat had just come in to land its catch.

This crab was 13 inches across its shell!

Thank goodness for the elastic bands!

Rock pooling

Took these at about 0730.

Lovely warm day

It's a dogs life.  This isn't Tilly but another black Lab that had it's own parasol.

Tilly, drying off after a swim.

Look at this for a prison cell.  It's about the size of a very small single garage.

And here's what the stone above the door says.  I think they should reinstate this little prison but it would obviously have to be a lot bigger.  I wonder what their idea of vice was?  Especially when my sister always tells me her only vice is chocolate!!!!! And who where the Friends of Religion and Good Order?

Oh my goodness, look at the time, it's Monday, it was still Sunday when I started this.

Have a good Bank Holiday, hope the sun shines where you are.

Walking with Tilly

Tilly and I out for a walk.

Weather's good, it's Good Friday, we have a few days to get away, so we're off to the south coast.  Be back soon, with photos.

Not Exactly The Most Exciting Post But Can Someone Please Help?

This is not the most exciting post in the world but I'm completely baffled by this linking thing.

How do I link something from another blog so that it appears on my blog and links back to their blog?
Oh crikey, does that make sense?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thank you.

Magnolia, Camellia, Grape Hyacinths And At Last, Some Sewing!

The Magnolia has been beautiful this year.  I took these photos about a week ago when it was at it's most glorious.

The poor camellia has suffered.  Last year, I moved it to what I thought would be a better place for it.  Although I watered it everyday, fed it and used camellia compost it has only produced six or seven flowers this spring, the rest of the buds fell off (that may have been frost).  The leaves have gone a bit yellow but with a bit of TLC maybe next year it will do better.

I love the colour of these grape hyacinths.

So here's what I've been up to in the last couple of days.  One of my favourite things to do is, sew all the scraps I have together.  There are no rules, you don't have to be that precise, (well just a bit), and you end up with a whole new piece of very interesting fabric.

Just a few scraps........

Tah dah!  Pieces of fabric for my future project.

Do you know, I've been quite overwhelmed by the lovely comments you leave.  They make my day and I find I can't wait to see who's been visiting and I have nine followers too.  If it wasn't for Gill at Gillyflower I may well have left blogging behind but her encouraging words gave me the push I needed to keep going.  Thank you Gill and thank you to everyone else, this blogging malarky brightens my day.

Enjoy the sunshine.

Box of Smiles

This box arrived a couple of weeks ago.

The postman said it had made his van smell.  I wasn't sure if that meant he liked it or not!

My house smells lovely.

I need to get on with some sewing and start using the lavender but in the meantime, I've left the bag open.

The smell of lavender just makes me smile.

Thank you for the wonderful comments, they make me smile too.
